We're Dean, Jaryd and Tegan, the trio behind Nakie. Our journey began with a shared love for scuba diving and a growing concern about plastic pollution in our beautiful oceans.
Travelling across the world and witnessing this devastating waste firsthand, we knew we had to take action—but how?
As nature lovers who enjoy camping and spending time outdoors, we decided to combine our passion for the outdoors with our mission to reduce plastic pollution in the oceans.
After 9 months of testing and product development, we created a world-first: a 100% recycled hammock made from 37 recycled plastic bottles. So Nakie was born.

What does Nakie mean?
Getting naked in nature? Sort of, but not quite.
Nakie is all about inspiring you to get outdoors and strip back to nature. You know, leaving behind the traffic, emails and all the noise to reconnect with what truly matters.
It’s not about losing your clothes, but about shedding all the stress and distractions. Just getting back to basics, enjoying the outdoors, and feeling free. That’s what the name Nakie is all about!
Ah, the garage... where it all began
We started Nakie at the end of 2019 in the garage, which soon took over the bedrooms and the entire house!
Fast forward a few years... Now, we’re in our dream location, our Eco HQ, fully self-sufficient with solar panels, water tanks and a veggie patch for the team.
Looking back at the journey since that first order - it's been incredible! We’ve faced many challenges, long weekends, and late nights. But all so worth it.
We're so grateful for everyone who has supported us along the way. We're excited to continue building this vision together!

We really hate to see things end up in landfill which is why we design and create gear that lasts a lifetime.
Our mission is to reduce waste and improve the environment, that's why we've spent countless hours developing and testing products. We are here to reduce waste not add to it.
